Anika Taekwondo has been fortunate in every way since its founding—especially through the opportunities created for our students by Master McEwen. A veteran of the sport, he has earned multiple podium finishes at the national level in both poomsae and kyorugi.

While many schools would value his competitive achievements alone, Master McEwen offers far more than success in the ring.

With over 35 years of experience as a practitioner—and more than 25 years coaching—he has guided athletes to the highest levels of competition in Canada, including national championships. His passion extends beyond the country, having trained internationally alongside elite athletes, including members of the Mexican National Team, bringing a truly Olympic-level perspective to our club.

Throughout his extensive career, Master McEwen has had the privilege of training under distinguished Grand Masters and alongside highly respected masters of the art.

A defining chapter of his journey came while studying under the late Grand Master Chung Lee as he prepared for his 6th Dan—an experience that helped shape him into the accomplished athlete and coach he is today.
